Behind Sukshma Yoga
The classes are centered around the energetic body, the sukshma sharira. It is where the sense of aliveness arises from and the source of our inner resources.
A combination of asana and pranayama are used to support your energetic attunement. During the class we shift our awareness from the concrete to the subtle - from outward to inward. Connecting with body, breath, and mind. The techniques are kept simple to facilitate the exploration of the nuances between movement and stillness, connection and disconnection, ease and effort.
* Come as you are, ideally on an empty stomach. Mats and props are offered by the studio.
Yoga is a lifestyle that extends beyond the mat. It is a combination of theories and techniques to integrate the body and mind, and to nurture the harmony between the various layers of our existence. The bridge that connects our physical being to our deepest, divine aspects is the sukshma sharira. Composed of mind and prana, vital life force, it is subtle in nature. Each of us receive our own prana at the moment of conception.
Importantly, the quality of our prana shapes our mind and the choices we make. We can use pranayama to learn to harness it. Our breath, which is the outer covering of prana, is the perfect tool to tap into out intangible processes. Regulating the breath regulates the mind, and vice versa. Through asana (3 rd limb of yoga) and pranayama (4 th limb) we begin to condition the body and the breath toward steadiness. Effort in practice in will eventually turn effortless.
This principle of steadiness (sthira) and ease (sukha) may also be cultivated in the everyday. Can we remain anchored, and engage in life with more intention and less force? Sometimes taking a step back in life, or out of a pose, helps us to recenter. Other times, we may find ourselves stagnating or not challenging ourselves enough on the mat.
Come join me on the mat to practice transmuting effort into effortlessness through playfulness and patience! Yoga has great benefits for the overall health – enhancing mental clarity, stress management, and respiratory and heart health. It nurtures the most vital relationship that we have, the one with ourselves. Inner harmony is resilience and connection with the universe.

About me
Hi, I am Laura. My hope is to encourage you to take a peek into the depths of yourself. I began my pranayama practice as an effort to shed light on my subconscious. As a child, I had pretty severe asthma. I knew theoretically that I had learned to dissociate from those experiences. Pranayama has offered me a tangible method, using my lungs, to reconnect with some of my discarded parts. One might call this shadow work, in Jungian terms. Like yoga, psychology informs a lot of my approach to life. They complement each other quite beautifully, in my opinion. What psychological theories have taught me intellectually, yoga has helped me integrate and embody energetically. My classes intend to strengthen the foundation for all transformation - (self) awareness. By opening up to yourself you will be able to expand into the world with curiosity and grace.
