Talia Purnell

Clinical Psychologist (M.A.) & Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie

Personal Philosophy:

I believe in the deep healing that comes from self-compassion and acceptance, no matter what conflicts or issues you're facing. Together, we'll work towards growing your sense of self-compassion and acceptance, helping you break free from negative beliefs and patterns that keep you stuck in cycles of pain and dysfunction. Our work together isn't about meeting rigid goals but about cultivating and nurturing new beliefs and responses. Through this process, you open up space for experiencing life in a fuller, more meaningful way.

Therapeutic Approach:

My therapeutic approach is diverse, embracing the uniqueness of each person. I believe you are the best expert on yourself, and I emphasize a client-centered philosophy that encourages a collaborative process. I also take a trauma-informed approach, recognizing the complex impact of trauma on an individual and prioritizing safety as we navigate this journey together at your own pace to ensure you feel heard, safe, and respected. My primary role in our collaboration is to support you by meeting you where you are at.

My approach is deeply rooted in psychodynamic principles, with a strong focus on parts work and family systems therapy. I believe that every part of ourselves, even those we might want to avoid or deny, plays a crucial role in our self-understanding and healing. Together, we'll explore these neglected parts to pave the way towards inner harmony and deeper integration.

Whatever circumstances or struggles have brought you here—whether you are experiencing a general feeling of unease, or have a particular concern you wish to address—no matter the gamut of emotions, I offer a safe space for you to be exactly as you are. Together, we will gently and collaboratively explore the parts of you that are suffering and are in need of care. If my profile resonates with you, I invite you to reach out. Wherever you are on your journey, I welcome you to my practice. It would be an honor to offer you a safe space to explore, discover, and reclaim yourself.

If you have any general questions or are interested in booking a session, you can email me. In your email, let me know a little bit about yourself and how I may support you.

(I prefer to work in English, however I am proficient in German on a C1 level and am open to German speaking clients).

About me:

I am a clinical psychologist with a Master's degree from the International Psychoanalytic University in Berlin. As a clinical psychologist, my journey is grounded in a blend of theoretical expertise and hands-on practical experience, allowing me to effectively address a wide spectrum of presenting issues in therapy.

Beyond my academic background, I bring extensive hands-on experience in social work, crisis intervention, substance abuse rehabilitation, and mental health counseling. I've worked with individuals facing a wide range of challenges—from anxiety and depression to trauma-related disorders and substance abuse. These experiences have sharpened my ability to apply theoretical insights in real-world contexts, tailoring therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.

I'm also a strong advocate for somatic and mindfulness-based practices. With a background in yoga and breathwork, I offer clients the option to integrate these somatic practices into their therapeutic journey.
